SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Suzanne Turk, who passed away on June 23, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Suzanne Turk was born in Joliet on September 13, 1943; she attended St. Paul the Apostle Catholic School, then graduated with the St. Francis Academy Class of 1961; she then attended Joliet Junior College, where she was crowned the 1962 Homecoming Queen; and

WHEREAS, Suzanne Turk worked for Commonwealth Edison for 32 years; following her retirement from ComEd, she became the Accessories Buyer for the Turk Family Furniture Stores; and

WHEREAS, Suzanne Turk was a parishioner at the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus; and

WHEREAS, Suzanne Turk was an active member of her community; she was involved with the Visitation and Aid Society, Lewis University Cultural Arts, Joliet Historical Society, the Joliet Park District Bird Haven Greenhouse and Conservatory, and the Guardian Angel Home, as well as many other local organizations; and

WHEREAS, Suzanne Turk was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Manner, and her many aunts and uncles, including George H. Dwyer and R. Patrick Dwyer; and

WHEREAS, Suzanne Turk is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 32 years, Frank Turk, Jr.; her brothers, John (Sue) Manner and Robert (Julie) Manner; her niece, Stephanie (Brent) Wagner and their children, J.C., Hayden, Cordelia, Cormac, and Declan; her nephews, William and Michael Manner and the Kitchell Family; her stepchildren, Frank (Sarah) Turk, Elizabeth (David) Runberg, Michael (GiGi) Turk, Stephen (Jackie Gillespie Horvat) Turk, and John (Tara) Turk; and her grandchildren, Shea, Megan, Frank, and Jack Turk, David and Zachary Runberg, Austin, Andrew, Ryan, and Elizabeth Turk, and Jessica, John, and Katherine Turk; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Suzanne Turk; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Suzanne Turk as an expression of our sympathy.
