SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Suzanne Turk, who passed away on June 23,
4 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Suzanne Turk was born in Joliet on September 13,
6 1943; she attended St. Paul the Apostle Catholic School, then
7 graduated with the St. Francis Academy Class of 1961; she then
8 attended Joliet Junior College, where she was crowned the 1962
9 Homecoming Queen; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Suzanne Turk worked for Commonwealth Edison for 32
11 years; following her retirement from ComEd, she became the
12 Accessories Buyer for the Turk Family Furniture Stores; and
 
13     WHEREAS, Suzanne Turk was a parishioner at the Cathedral of
14 St. Raymond Nonnatus; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Suzanne Turk was an active member of her
16 community; she was involved with the Visitation and Aid
17 Society, Lewis University Cultural Arts, Joliet Historical
18 Society, the Joliet Park District Bird Haven Greenhouse and
19 Conservatory, and the Guardian Angel Home, as well as many
20 other local organizations; and

1     WHEREAS, Suzanne Turk was preceded in death by her parents,
2 William and Mary Manner, and her many aunts and uncles,
3 including George H. Dwyer and R. Patrick Dwyer; and
 
4     WHEREAS, Suzanne Turk is survived by her loving and devoted
5 husband of 32 years, Frank Turk, Jr.; her brothers, John (Sue)
6 Manner and Robert (Julie) Manner; her niece, Stephanie (Brent)
7 Wagner and their children, J.C., Hayden, Cordelia, Cormac, and
8 Declan; her nephews, William and Michael Manner and the
9 Kitchell Family; her stepchildren, Frank (Sarah) Turk,
10 Elizabeth (David) Runberg, Michael (GiGi) Turk, Stephen
11 (Jackie Gillespie Horvat) Turk, and John (Tara) Turk; and her
12 grandchildren, Shea, Megan, Frank, and Jack Turk, David and
13 Zachary Runberg, Austin, Andrew, Ryan, and Elizabeth Turk, and
14 Jessica, John, and Katherine Turk; therefore, be it
 
15     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
16 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
17 her family and friends, the passing of Suzanne Turk; and be it
18 further
 
19     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20 presented to the family of Suzanne Turk as an expression of our
21 sympathy.
