SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Laura N. Peterson of Aurora, who passed away on May 10, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Laura Peterson was born on October 29, 1948 in Chicago; she married her high school sweetheart and best friend, Lee M. Peterson, on August 16, 1969; and

WHEREAS, Laura Peterson was a graduate of Maine West High School in Des Plaines; she attended Valparaiso University and graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in education; and

WHEREAS, Laura Peterson taught 4th and 5th grade for many years in Naperville School District #203; she also served as a Principal at Elmwood Elementary School and most recently at River Woods Elementary School; she had a love of education and always put the needs of her students first; and

WHEREAS, Laura Peterson loved traveling, playing golf, reading, bike riding, playing bridge, gardening, and being a member of PEO; she loved and cherished her time spent at her country homes in Galena and Anna Maria Island, Florida with her husband, Lee, and their family; she also dearly loved playing with and enjoying her loving grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Laura Peterson was the beloved mother of Sandy (Ron) Golminas and Julie (Jeff) Clifford; the adored "Grammy" of Jack and Matthew Golminas and Wade and Megan Clifford; the devoted daughter of Carol (nee Highfield) Nelson and the late Clifford Nelson; the dear sister of Larry (Sue) Nelson, Mark (Carolyne) Nelson, and Patty (Greg) Morin; the fond aunt of Tim, Meredith, Annika, Kyle, Andy, and Diana; and the dear sister-in-law of Judee Peterson; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Laura N. Peterson; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Laura Peterson as an expression of our sympathy.
