SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Elmer A. Dagenais of Naperville, who passed away on May 7, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Elmer A. Dagenais was born in Naperville, grew up in both Naperville and Lisle, and graduated from Naperville High School; in 1939, he married his wife of 59 years, Johanna, who passed away ten years ago; he married his second wife, Marilyn, in 2001; and

WHEREAS, He began working with the Kroehler Manufacturing Company in the mailroom at the age of 15 and retired in 1978 as the executive vice president, but remained with the company as a consultant for two years; and

WHEREAS, From 1945 to 1946, he served with the United States Army Air Forces in the Pacific theater during World Ward II; after his discharge, he returned to work with Kroehler Manufacturing Company, where over the next 30 years he worked for the product control and traffic departments, moving with his family at various points to help manage its manufacturing plants in New York and California; during his career with Kroehler, Mr. Dagenais served on the board of trustees of Naperville National Bank, Firststar Bank in Naperville, and Naperville Financial Corporation; and

WHEREAS, He was also a longtime member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Naperville, where he served as a Sunday school teacher for many years; in addition, he served on many local boards such as Edward Hospital, North Central College, and the Naperville YMCA; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Dagenais is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his son, Douglas; his daughters, Carole Christensen, Donna Dagenais, Judy Ann Hart, JoAnn Kolkay, Marlene Kiefer, and Deborah Longer; his brother, Donald; his sister, Eleanor Haddix; his eleven grandchildren; and his great-grandchild; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Elmer Dagenais; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Elmer Dagenais as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
