SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Elsie Tonyan of McHenry, who passed away on May 26, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Elsie Tonyan was born on February 12, 1911 in Waukegan; her parents were Anton and Mary (Pekley) Stebley; she married Sylvester "Wes" Tonyan in Waukegan on January 5, 1937; and

WHEREAS, Elsie Tonyan graduated from Waukegan Township High School in 1929; she was a longtime resident of the McHenry-Johnsburg area; and

WHEREAS, Elsie Tonyan served as the Vice President of her husband's business, Tonyan Bros. Inc., for 44 years; and

WHEREAS, Elsie Tonyan was a member of St. John the Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, Elsie Tonyan was an avid bridge player and read three newspapers daily; she also enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Elsie Tonyan was preceded in death by her husband, Wes; her daughter, Audrey; her parents; and her brother, Robert Stebley; and

WHEREAS, Elsie Tonyan is survived by her son, James (Laura) Tonyan; her son-in-law, John Regner; her grandchildren, Sara (Franz) Kuehnrich, John Regner Jr., Lindsay Tonyan, and Wesley Tonyan; and her great-grandchildren, Philip, Audria, and William; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Elsie Tonyan; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Elsie Tonyan as an expression of our sympathy.
