SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Christianna Michelle Wilbourn of Bloomington, who passed away on May 5, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Christianna Michelle Wilbourn was born on April 4, 1991; Michelle was a joy to her parents and a responsible, loving, and faithful daughter and sister; she was known for her exuberant smile and her zeal for life, but also for her honesty, integrity, her encouragement, and her faith; and

WHEREAS, Michelle accepted Christ as her savior at the age of 11; her love of God and her faith were evident to those who knew her; and

WHEREAS, Michelle excelled academically at Normal Community High School and was in the top 10 percent of her graduating class; she was actively involved in Rotary Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Brotherhood Tree, children's ministry at First Assembly of God, tutoring at Grove Elementary, volunteering in blood drives, the Salvation Army, as well as a member of the National Honor Society, African American Culture Club, peer leadership, teaching teams, homecoming committee, M.A.P.S., and Student Council making an impact on her school and her community; and

WHEREAS, She had been accepted into Illinois Wesleyan University for the fall of 2009 to pursue a degree in international business; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Essie and Willie Brown; and her great-grandmother, Ruby Wilbourn; and

WHEREAS, Michelle is survived by her parents, Stephen and Armie Wilbourn; her three siblings, Stephen Christopher, Joy Alexandria, and Christian Jonathan; her grandmother, Iola Collins; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Christianna Michelle Wilbourn; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Christianna Michelle Wilbourn as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
