SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Edward Chrapkowski of Gurnee, formerly of North Chicago, who passed away on April 21, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Edward Chrapkowski was born July 16, 1927 in Chicago; he was a Veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving in the United States Army; and

WHEREAS, He retired as Chief of Police for the City of North Chicago in 1993 after 30 years of service; prior to joining North Chicago, he was a policeman for the City of Waukegan for 6 years; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of Queen of Peace Church and Holy Rosary Church, where he had been an usher; he was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, the Knights of Columbus Waukegan Lodge, the North Chicago American Legion Sharvin Post #397, where he served as post commander, a former member of the North Chicago School Board, a graduate of the F.B.I. Academy in 1974, and a member of the Waukegan Moose Lodge #706, the Polish National Alliance, and Nick's Social Club; and

WHEREAS, He loved fishing, golf, stamp and coin collecting, gambling, and bowling; and he was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his wife, Sophie; and

WHEREAS, Edward Chrapkowski is survived by his son, John (Donna) Chrapkowski; his daughters, Cindy (Marv) Dawson, Karen (Craig) Bennett, Janet (Scott) Lynam, Lisa (Randy) Honeycutt, and Beverlee (Ralph) Leyvas; his 15 grandchildren; and his six great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Edward Chrapkowski; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Edward Chrapkowski as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
