SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of George F. Taseff of Carlinville, who
4 passed away on April 4, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mr. Taseff was born December 8, 1925, in Chicago,
6 the son of Anton and Mary Taseff; in 1944 he graduated from
7 Schurz High School; he later enlisted in the United States
8 Marine Corps, where he fought in the battles of Saipan and
9 Okinawa; and
 
10     WHEREAS, After the war he earned a bachelor of science
11 degree in education from the Northern Illinois State Teachers
12 College and a master's degree in education from the University
13 of Missouri; he married Gloria Mae Hansen in 1952, and taught
14 school in Texas and Chicago; in 1960 he moved to Carlinville,
15 where he taught sixth grade for more than 25 years; and
 
16     WHEREAS, He served two terms as alderman in Ward 5; he was
17 an active volunteer in the community and a member of the Ansar
18 Shrine, Mt. Nebo Lodge No. 76, Carlinville Moose Lodge, Elks,
19 American Legion, and the VFW; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Mr. Taseff was proud to be an organ donor and
21 helping area children through the Shriners Hospital for

1 Children; and
 
2     WHEREAS, Surviving are his wife, Gloria; his daughter, Nora
3 Tuggle and husband, Fred; his sons, George Taseff and wife,
4 Jeanine and Ray Taseff and wife, Liesbeth Boots; and his
5 grandsons, Nick and Devin; therefore, be it
 
6     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
7 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
8 his family and friends, the passing of George Taseff; and be it
9 further
 
10     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to the family of George Taseff as a symbol of our
12 sincere sympathy.
