SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of William E. "Bill" Thomas of Winthrop Harbor, who passed away on February 16, 2009; and

WHEREAS, He was born July 1, 1935 in Benton; he was a member of Winthrop Harbor United Methodist Church and also belonged to the Waukegan Masonic Lodge #78 A.F. & A.M., and was a proud member of the Illinois Harness Horseman's Association; and

WHEREAS, He was a former Police Officer for the Village of Winthrop Harbor and he worked as General Manager of Lyons-Ryan Ford, Reed-Randle Ford, Robinson Chevrolet-Cadillac and Sorenson Chevrolet; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Thomas; his sisters, Juanita Lassiter, June May, Lorraine Ambacher, and Judy Thomas; and his parents, Randall Thomas and Lillian Sweetin; and

WHEREAS, He was the beloved husband of 52 years to Nancy; the loving father of Alan Thomas, Jody (Kevin) Moses, and David (Elena) Thomas; the loving grandfather to Jessica and Joshua Moses; the dear brother of John Thomas; and was a fond uncle and grand-uncle to many; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of William Thomas; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of William Thomas as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
