SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Theresa Barrett of Alton, who passed away on April 7, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Theresa Barrett was born on January 21, 1922 in Gillespie; she was the daughter of John and Julia (Gatton) McConnell; she married John J. Barrett on June 29, 1946; and

WHEREAS, Theresa Barrett was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, John E. McConnell; her sisters, Elizabeth Henderson, Margaret Barrett, Mary Chesus, Dolores Peipert, and Dorothy Harris; her daughter-in-law, Patti Barrett; and her grandson, Andrew Walters; and

WHEREAS, Theresa Barrett was the center of her family; she is survived by four daughters and their spouses, Becky and Paul Suhre, Cathy and Steve Greeling, Theresa and Bruce Kates, and Chris and Mike Walters; her sons and their spouses, John J. Barrett Jr., Patrick L. Barrett and Frances Hammond, Michael A. and Lea Barrett, and Joseph M. and Nancy Barrett; her 25 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Mildred (Billye) Walker and Betty Yenny; her sister-in-law, Margaret McConnell; and her numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Theresa Barrett; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Theresa Barrett as an expression of our sympathy.
