SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mary Jane Feltes, who passed away on February 21, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Mary Jane Feltes was born in Madison, Wisconsin; she attended the University of Wisconsin at River Falls, receiving her bachelor's degree in biology in 1966; upon graduating, she became a teacher of biology and anatomy in Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Germany; she finally ended up at St. Francis High School in Wheaton, where she became Chair of the Science Department and founder of the student environmental group Evergreen Club; and

WHEREAS, Mary Jane Feltes was a lifelong fan of all animals and the Green Bay Packers; when not in class, she could be found at the family farm, Sonny Acres, where she was usually cooking, gardening, or sharing a story with family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Mary Jane Feltes is survived by her husband of 42 years, Lt. Col. Lorentz Feltes, USAF (Ret.); her children, David (Louisa), Daniel (Sarah), and Rebecca (David); her beloved grandchildren, Charlie and Matthew; and her best friend and partner in crime, Sue Kolasinski; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Mary Jane Feltes; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mary Jane Feltes as an expression of our sympathy.
