SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Jack Thomas Skinner of Danville, who
4 passed away on February 12, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born April 5, 1923 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to
6 Harry C. and Bessie McCallister Skinner; he married Irene
7 Middlemas on June 7, 1947 in Covington, Indiana; and
 
8     WHEREAS, He attended Danville High School and served in the
9 United States Army during World War II; he worked for Illinois
10 Power for 38 years as a forestry man; and he belonged to the
11 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers; and
 
12     WHEREAS, He was proud of being a life-long Democrat, a
13 Precinct Committeeman, and serving on the Vermilion County
14 Board from 1988-1994; he enjoyed time spent fishing at his
15 cabin on the Wabash, gardening, mushroom hunting, being an avid
16 St. Louis Cardinals fan, and playing softball and coaching his
17 children in baseball during his early life; and
 
18     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his loving wife; his
19 brothers, Louis Skinner and Harry Skinner; and his sisters,
20 Emma Sexton and Mildred Bridges; and

1     WHEREAS, Jack Thomas Skinner is survived by his three sons,
2 Gordon (Mary) Skinner, James (Julie) Skinner, and Kenneth
3 (Mimi) Skinner; his sister Viola Kacmar; his grandchildren,
4 Jack Skinner, Sarah Stahl, Kellie Kolb, Kristen Skinner, Parker
5 Sands, and Preston Skinner; his great-grandchildren,
6 Sebastian, Lorenzo, and Olivia; and several nieces and nephews;
7 therefore, be it
 
8     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
9 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
10 his family and friends, the passing of Jack Thomas Skinner; and
11 be it further
 
12     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to the family of Jack Thomas Skinner as a symbol of
14 our sincere sympathy.
