| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of George William Patterson of Waukegan, who | 4 | | passed away on November 29, 2010; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, He was the beloved owner and operator of Louie's | 6 | | Restaurant in Waukegan; he was born March 19, 1923 in | 7 | | Gargaliani, Greece the youngest son of William and Helen | 8 | | Patterson; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, He moved to the United States at the age of 14 and | 10 | | learned English while attending Waukegan schools; he had a | 11 | | determined, strong work ethic and studied at Northwestern | 12 | | University; he proudly served during the Korean War, then | 13 | | returned to Waukegan and earned an accounting degree at Lake | 14 | | Forest College; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, He worked at Blumberg Furniture in accounts and | 16 | | with David Rose as a CPA; he married his wonderful wife, | 17 | | Theofane (nee Couvall) 52 years ago; he taught his boys to run | 18 | | the family business with a simple involved, customer-friendly | 19 | | philosophy; he was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox | 20 | | Church; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, His twin older siblings Peter and Katherine |

| 1 | | preceded him in death; and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, George Patterson liked to see his many returning | 3 | | customers; he and his wife raised 2 wonderful sons, Billy | 4 | | (Denise) and Tony; he loved his many sisters and | 5 | | brothers-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews, and former | 6 | | daughter-in-law, Tammy; a huge source of pride and his biggest | 7 | | hobby were his five grandchildren, George W., Christe, Thea, | 8 | | George A., and David; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 11 | | his family, friends, and customers, the passing of George | 12 | | Patterson; and be it further
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 | | presented to the family of George Patterson as a symbol of our | 15 | | sincere sympathy.
