SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of George William Patterson of Waukegan, who
4passed away on November 29, 2010; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was the beloved owner and operator of Louie's
6Restaurant in Waukegan; he was born March 19, 1923 in
7Gargaliani, Greece the youngest son of William and Helen
8Patterson; and
 
9    WHEREAS, He moved to the United States at the age of 14 and
10learned English while attending Waukegan schools; he had a
11determined, strong work ethic and studied at Northwestern
12University; he proudly served during the Korean War, then
13returned to Waukegan and earned an accounting degree at Lake
14Forest College; and
 
15    WHEREAS, He worked at Blumberg Furniture in accounts and
16with David Rose as a CPA; he married his wonderful wife,
17Theofane (nee Couvall) 52 years ago; he taught his boys to run
18the family business with a simple involved, customer-friendly
19philosophy; he was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox
20Church; and
 
21    WHEREAS, His twin older siblings Peter and Katherine

1preceded him in death; and
 
2    WHEREAS, George Patterson liked to see his many returning
3customers; he and his wife raised 2 wonderful sons, Billy
4(Denise) and Tony; he loved his many sisters and
5brothers-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews, and former
6daughter-in-law, Tammy; a huge source of pride and his biggest
7hobby were his five grandchildren, George W., Christe, Thea,
8George A., and David; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
11his family, friends, and customers, the passing of George
12Patterson; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of George Patterson as a symbol of our
15sincere sympathy.
