SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Jim T. Poulos of Westchester, formerly of
4 River Forest, who passed away on February 1, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was a World War II United States Army veteran;
6 he worked as a real estate broker for many years; upon
7 retiring, he achieved his goal of spending time with his large
8 extended family at their summer home in the north woods of Clam
9 Lake, Wisconsin; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Prior to becoming a realtor, he owned and operated
11 his own grocery store for many years in Des Plaines while
12 raising his young family in Winston Park; and
 
13     WHEREAS, He was a member of American Legion Evzones Post
14 #1039 and Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church; he was a kind,
15 compassionate man who served his family, his country, his
16 fellow man, and his community; and
 
17     WHEREAS, Jim Poulos was the husband of Bessie, nee
18 Karagianis; the father of Georgienne Poulos (Emil Plecko),
19 Thalia Poulos (companion, Chris Miller), Tom (Angela), Eileen
20 Poulos (William Fiscus), and the late Louis, D.O. (Diane
21 Sclafani); the grandfather of eight; the great-grandfather of

1 five; the brother of Fran (George) Katsaros, Dean, and the late
2 Nicholas, Ph.D.; the brother-in-law of Kally Rembos-Tsatsos
3 (George, M.D.), Michael, D.D.S. (Vicki) Karagianis, and Helen
4 (James) Pierce; and the uncle of many nieces and nephews;
5 therefore, be it
 
6     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
7 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
8 his family and friends, the passing of Jim Poulos; and be it
9 further
 
10     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to the family of Jim Poulos as a symbol of our
12 sincere sympathy.
