SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Jim T. Poulos of Westchester, formerly of River Forest, who passed away on February 1, 2009; and

WHEREAS, He was a World War II United States Army veteran; he worked as a real estate broker for many years; upon retiring, he achieved his goal of spending time with his large extended family at their summer home in the north woods of Clam Lake, Wisconsin; and

WHEREAS, Prior to becoming a realtor, he owned and operated his own grocery store for many years in Des Plaines while raising his young family in Winston Park; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of American Legion Evzones Post #1039 and Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church; he was a kind, compassionate man who served his family, his country, his fellow man, and his community; and

WHEREAS, Jim Poulos was the husband of Bessie, nee Karagianis; the father of Georgienne Poulos (Emil Plecko), Thalia Poulos (companion, Chris Miller), Tom (Angela), Eileen Poulos (William Fiscus), and the late Louis, D.O. (Diane Sclafani); the grandfather of eight; the great-grandfather of five; the brother of Fran (George) Katsaros, Dean, and the late Nicholas, Ph.D.; the brother-in-law of Kally Rembos-Tsatsos (George, M.D.), Michael, D.D.S. (Vicki) Karagianis, and Helen (James) Pierce; and the uncle of many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Jim Poulos; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jim Poulos as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
