SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Donna Jean Creel (nee, Brown) of
4Westmont, who passed away on November 23, 2010; and
 
5    WHEREAS, She was born on February 22, 1942 in Grand Rapids,
6Michigan to Beatrice Irene and the late Osborn DeYoung Brown;
7she enjoyed an active and social childhood, excelling in school
8and hobbies such as cheerleading and skiing; she and her
9husband, Larry, were married in a Methodist Church in
10Kalamazoo, Michigan on September 7, 1968; and
 
11    WHEREAS, She had a way of positively impacting everyone's
12life she touched, whether as a family member, employee,
13colleague, or treasured friend; education and reading were
14ongoing passions in her professional and personal life; and
 
15    WHEREAS, She was a first, second, third, and fourth grade
16elementary teacher in Michigan; in Missouri, over a 25-year
17period, she served the Hazelwood School District in many
18capacities: as a first grade and reading teacher, instructional
19specialist, and reading consultant for the entire district;
20additionally, she enjoyed serving as an Adjunct Instructor for
21Webster University; and

1    WHEREAS, In Illinois, she displayed her strong leadership
2skills as both a consultant and book representative for the
3Scholastic Book Company; and
 
4    WHEREAS, She was the light of husband Larry's life and she
5was the cherished mother to Courtney (Creel) Blankenship and
6Colin Creel and daughter-in-law Krista Creel; the loving sister
7of G.L. Brown; and dear grandmother or "Nonna" to Isabella and
8Gibson Blankenship and Cole and Cooper Creel; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
11her family and friends, the passing of Donna Jean Creel; and be
12it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Donna Jean Creel as a symbol of our
15sincere sympathy.
