SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John Kevin Garvey, who passed away on May 5, 2010; and

WHEREAS, John Kevin Garvey was born with spastic quadriplegia, which left him unable to walk or communicate beyond smiles and eye contact; despite his disability, however, he accumulated an inordinate number of friends, fans, and admirers throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, John Kevin Garvey was well known to his friends and neighbors in Beverly, where he was born and raised, and around Streeterville, where he lived his last decade and where his devoted team of nurses would take him for excursions to the Oak Street beach and along Michigan Avenue; and

WHEREAS, John Kevin Garvey attended programs at the Arthur Rubloff Center in Chicago and the John Trutter Center in Cicero; he was a member of Christ the King Roman Catholic Church; and

WHEREAS, John Kevin Garvey is survived by his parents, Kevin and Ann; his siblings, Tim, Julie Davis and Jim; his brother-in-law, Marc Davis; his nieces and nephews, Madeline, Emma, Matthew, and Kevin Garvey and Elijah, Jadon, and Noah Davis; and his many aunts, uncles, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of John Kevin Garvey; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John Kevin Garvey as an expression of our sympathy.
