SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Daniel Roy Martin of Petersburg, who passed away on September 12, 2010; and

WHEREAS, He was born on June 12, 1976 in Springfield, to Danny and Vera Backs Martin; and

WHEREAS, He worked for the Petersburg Police Department as Chief of Police; he also worked part time for the Athens Police Department; he was a member of the Menard County Rescue Squad, the Menard County Rescue Dive Team, and the Petersburg Fire Department; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Roy Martin; his maternal grandparents, Homer and Faye Backs; one uncle; and one aunt; and

WHEREAS, Daniel Martin is survived by his parents, Danny and Vera Martin; his sons, Jared Martin, Kameron Martin, and Connor Martin; his sister, Jennifer (Clayton) Roberts; his grandmother, Robylee Martin; and his companion, Natasha Atterberry; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Daniel Martin; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Daniel Martin as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
