SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Norman L. Armstrong of Carlinville, who passed away on February 17, 2009; and

WHEREAS, He was born on May 4, 1925 in Sona Bata, Belgian Congo, the son of Bernard W. and Rhoda Broholm Armstrong; he married Florence Waterman on September 24, 1949 in Kalamazoo, Michigan; and

WHEREAS, He was a United States Army infantry veteran, serving in World War II; he attended Wright State in Ohio, receiving his master of arts degree in counseling; he received his bachelor of arts degree from Kalamazoo College; and he received a master of arts degree from Andover-Newton College; and

WHEREAS, He was a pastoral counselor in Western Springs, retiring in 1993; he was a member of the Federated Church and Seekers Group at Blackburn College; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Norman Armstrong is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Dr. Mark W. and Lynn Armstrong and Richard N. Armstrong; his grandsons, Greg (wife, Sarah) MacDonald, Jeff Armstrong, and Dan Armstrong (fiancee, Sara Keaster); and his sister, Joan Bailey; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Norman Armstrong; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Norman Armstrong as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
