SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of James L. McCabe of Arlington Heights, who passed away on November 23, 2010; and

WHEREAS, James McCabe was born on July 11, 1931, in Chicago; his parents were Leroy James and Mary (nee Fleming) McCabe; and

WHEREAS, James McCabe was a 1954 graduate of DePaul University, where he played basketball under legendary coach Ray Meyer; and

WHEREAS, James McCabe served his country with pride and distinction as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War; and

WHEREAS, James McCabe was a retired attorney and former partner of McCabe and Venit in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, James McCabe coached numerous youth sports in Arlington Heights; he was also a longtime active member and lector at Our Lady of the Wayside Church; and

WHEREAS, James McCabe was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, James McCabe is survived by his wife, Mary Kay (nee Sullivan), whom he married on September 20, 1958; his children, James E. (Elaine) McCabe, Ann M. Tovella, Carol M. (Dan) Zielinski, Robert J. (Mary) McCabe, John P. (Virginia) McCabe, Jeanne M. (Mike) Borta, and Marilyn A. McCabe; and his grandchildren, Kelly, Brian, Kyle, Sarah, Daniel, David, Timothy, Robert Emmet, Maggie, Ellie, Jack, Matt, Will, Molly, Charlie, and Sam; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of James L. McCabe; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of James McCabe as an expression of our sympathy.
