SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John L. Bonie of Aurora, who passed away on October 25, 2010; and

WHEREAS, John Bonie was born on October 15, 1915, in Aurora; he was the son of the late George and Theresa (Moldovan) Bonie; and

WHEREAS, John Bonie graduated from East Aurora High School; he served his nation as a member of the United States Army Air Corps during World War II; and

WHEREAS, John Bonie was employed with the Chicago, Aurora, and Elgin Railway for 18 years until his resignation as auditor of freight accounts and freight claim agent; he was also the owner of the Aurora Typewriter Company; and

WHEREAS, John Bonie was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and the Aurora Cosmopolitan Club, where he served as President twice; and

WHEREAS, John Bonie was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Dell Bonie; his sister, Mary Weber; and his brother, George Bonie; and

WHEREAS, John Bonie is survived by his son, John G. (Kathy) Bonie; his daughter, Karen Lynn (Bruce) Covalt; his grandchildren, Dr. Wesley (Dr. Kathleen) Covalt, Amanda (Clark) Johnson, Damaris Covalt, Jenna (Karl) Haglund, and John J. (Kristen) Bonie; and his great-grandchildren, Jamela Covalt, Garrett Andrew Johnson, Cali Bonie, Sophie Lynn Johnson, Maya Bonie, Anders Haglund, and Kati Haglund; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of John L. Bonie; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John Bonie as an expression of our sympathy.
