| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of United States Army Private First Class | 4 | | Andrew N. Meari of Plainfield, who was killed in action on | 5 | | November 1, 2010, in Kandahar, Afghanistan; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Andrew Meari was born on September 14, 1989 in | 7 | | Chicago; he was the son of Denise Meehan and Mahmoud Meari; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, PFC Andrew Meari attended Drauden Point Middle | 9 | | School and Plainfield South High School; he subsequently | 10 | | graduated early from Port Washington High School in Wisconsin; | 11 | | and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, PFC Andrew Meari joined the U.S. Army in October | 13 | | of 2008; he served with Company A, 1st Battalion, 502nd | 14 | | Infantry, 2nd Brigade Combat Team of the 101st Airborne | 15 | | Division out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, PFC Andrew Meari was awarded the National Defense | 17 | | Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War | 18 | | on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the | 19 | | Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Combat Infantry Badge in | 20 | | recognition of his service; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, PFC Andrew Meari is survived by his mother, Denise | 2 | | (Gerald) Meehan; his father, Mahmoud (Aisha) Meari; his | 3 | | brothers, Ethan and Andrew; his sister, Jenna; his grandmother, | 4 | | Vivienne Williams; his uncle, Todd (Stacie) Williams; and his | 5 | | many cousins and friends; and | 6 | | WHEREAS, PFC Andrew Meari will be remembered by all who | 7 | | knew and loved him as an outgoing, intelligent, and passionate | 8 | | young man, whose dedication to his country and his family was | 9 | | unmatched; therefore, be it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 12 | | his family and friends, the passing of United States Army | 13 | | Private First Class Andrew N. Meari; and be it further
