SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of U.S. Marine Corps Lance Corporal James Bray Stack of Arlington Heights, who was killed in the line of duty on November 10, 2010, in the Sangin District of Helmand Province, Afghanistan; and

WHEREAS, James Bray Stack was born on July 11, 1990, in Schaumburg; his parents were Robert Bruce and Linda Lorraine Stack; and

WHEREAS, James Bray Stack was a nationally ranked competitive shooter and the 2008 Junior Olympics Gold Medalist for Air Pistol; he was a member of the Arlington International Airgun Club; he also played soccer at Christian Liberty Academy and was named Most Valuable Player on the school's track team; and

WHEREAS, James Bray Stack served as a rifleman with India Company (2nd Platoon) of the "Darkhorse" 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment with the 1st Marine Division of the I Marine Expeditionary Force in Camp Pendleton, California; and

WHEREAS, James Bray Stack was the recipient of numerous awards for his service, including the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Medal, and the Afghanistan Campaign Medal; and

WHEREAS, James Bray Stack was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lorraine Bray, and his grandfather, Robert Lee Stack; and

WHEREAS, James Bray Stack is survived by his wife, Katie; his daughter, Mikayla Lorraine; his parents, Robert and Linda Stack; his sister, Megan Lorraine Stack; his grandparents, Jo Ann Stack and Gene Bray; his mother-in-law, Dawn (Tom) Hedrick; his sister-in-law, Joanne Savage; his wife's grandmother, Eleanor Savage; and his father-in-law, Michael Landeweer; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Lance Corporal James Bray Stack; and be it further

RESOLVED, RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of James Bray Stack and his willingness to serve our country, which led to him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lance Corporal James Bray Stack as an expression of our sympathy.
