SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Allen Joshua of Waukegan, who passed away
4on September 10, 2010; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Allen Joshua was born August 7, 1945 in Pineville,
6Louisiana; Allen accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and
7Savior at an early age in Louisiana; Allen graduated from
8Peabody High School in Alexandria, Louisiana in 1962; he moved
9to the Waukegan area in 1968; and
 
10    WHEREAS, He joined the United States Army and was stationed
11in Korea; Allen was employed at First Midwest Bankcorp,
12formerly known as Citizens National Bank, as President of the
13North Chicago Branch, where he retired after 35 years of
14service; he received numerous awards for his accomplishments in
15the community and banking industry; and
 
16    WHEREAS, He was a member of the North Chicago Chamber of
17Commerce, the Community Civic Organization, the Community
18Reinvestment Council, and a lifetime member of the NAACP; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Allen Joshua was preceded in death by his father,
20Bervin (Juanita) Joshua; his mother, Frances A. Joshua; his
21grandmother, Olivia B. Bush; and his uncles and aunts, Louis

1Duffy, Ophelia Jordan, Irene Keys, James Keys, and Geneva
2Johnson; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Allen Joshua is survived by his wife, Madeline
4(nee Hanna) Joshua of 37 years; his children, Allen L. Joshua,
5Jr., Latrise Hanna, LaDonna (Robert) Madden, Alana, Bervin, and
6Ralph Joshua; his 12 grandchildren; his many nephews, nieces,
7cousins, and other relatives and dear friends; and his very
8special friends, Henry Mays and Willie Clauzell "Buddy";
9therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
12his family and friends, the passing of Allen Joshua; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Allen Joshua as a symbol of our
16sincere sympathy.
