305 ILCS 5/9-2   from Ch. 23, par. 9-2

    Amends the Illinois Public Aid Code. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning guidance and counseling services for public aid recipients.

1     AN ACT concerning public aid.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by
5 changing Section 9-2 as follows:
 
6     (305 ILCS 5/9-2)  (from Ch. 23, par. 9-2)
7     Sec. 9-2. Guidance and Counseling Services. Guidance and
8 and counseling services shall be provided directly by the
9 staffs of the Illinois Department, the County Departments, and
10 local governmental units, or through cooperating governmental
11 and private agencies which will assist in preventing or
12 overcoming financial dependency or social maladjustment; in
13 maintaining and strengthening family life; in assisting
14 parents who are unmarried, divorced or separated to share in
15 the support and maintenance of their children; in increasing
16 the capacities of parents or other adults for attaining or
17 maintaining a decent and healthful standard of living for
18 themselves and any children they may have under their care; and
19 in encouraging and aiding parents or other adults to provide
20 children under their care with maximum opportunities for
21 realizing their full potentialities for development.
22     In local governmental units receiving State funds, the
23 establishment of such services and the expenditure of funds

1 therefor shall be subject to the approval and supervision of
2 the Illinois Department.
