New Act
215 ILCS 5/1	from Ch. 73, par. 613

Creates the Health Carrier External Review Act. Sets forth the purpose of the Act. Amends the Illinois Insurance Code. Makes technical changes in a Section concerning the short title.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning insurance.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 1. Short title. This Act shall be known and may be cited as the Health Carrier External Review Act.

Section 5. Legislative findings and intent. The purpose of this Act is to provide uniform standards for the establishment and maintenance of external review procedures to assure that covered persons have the opportunity for an independent review of an adverse determination or final adverse determination, as defined in this Act.

Section 10. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by changing Section 1 as follows:

Sec. 1. Short title. This Act shall be known and and may be cited as the "Illinois Insurance Code."
