HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Dr. David Arnold Frier Jr. of Springfield, who passed away on February 27, 2010; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of the Illinois Prisoner Review Board and served under two governors; he was born in Benton in 1931; and

WHEREAS, He received bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale; he was a tenured professor at Western Illinois University, where he taught political science for 20 years; a number of his students, including Mary Matalin and Senator Kirk Dillard, went on to political careers; and

WHEREAS, He was also a noted antique dealer and collector and for many years had a shop in Macomb, as well as exhibiting at shows around the Midwest; he was known for painting Illinois River duck decoys, which are widely sold at shows across the United States and on eBay; and

WHEREAS, Dr. David Frier is survived by his wife, Yasna; and his six children, Timothy David, Kerry Dee, Randy Ryan, Bruce Hale, Jennifer Rae, and John David; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of David Frier Jr.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dr. David Frier Jr. as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
