HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to honor Mr. Nicho Hinojosa, trova musician, for being a cultural ambassador of Hispanic music, and to express appreciation for his visit to the Olympic theater in Cicero; and

WHEREAS, On February 13, 2010, Mr. Hinojosa will step on the stage at the Olympic theater to deliver a repertoire of trova, a music form that combines romantic, vanguard, and Latin American folk styles to express the feeling of "El Pueblo"; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Hinojosa began singing at the age of eight; he was influenced by classic rock bands and started playing drums in a local ensemble; he emerged as a "multi-instrumentalist" after attending Monterrey's "Escuela Superior de Musica y Danza" (School of Superior Education on Music and Dance); and

WHEREAS, In 1993 he joined a collective music project called Guitarrs por el Mundo (Guitars Around the World), and together they released two albums of music; in 1993 he also debuted as a solo artist with the release of his album "Detras de Horizonte"; and

WHEREAS, In June of 2002 he was signed by the Latin division of BMG records and he released "En el Bar"; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Hinojosa has toured in Latin America, Europe, and the United States; he is considered a pioneer of the new phase of trova music by his fans, followers, fellow artists, and lovers of fine cultural expressions; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor Mr. Hinojosa and wish him all the best in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Nicho Hinojosa as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
