HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Assistant Fire
4 Chief Gregory J. McDonald of the Itasca Fire Protection
5 District on his retirement; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Assistant Chief McDonald has served the District,
7 its residents, and its businesses for a total of 38 years; he
8 began as a volunteer firefighter in 1972 and became a full-time
9 career firefighter in January of 1985; and
 
10     WHEREAS, As a volunteer he worked his way through the
11 ranks, first as a fireman, then engineer, then chief engineer,
12 as 1st Lieutenant, as 2nd Lieutenant, and finally achieving the
13 rank of captain, a position he held until he was hired
14 full-time in 1985; and
 
15     WHEREAS, He was assigned to the Fire Prevention Bureau in
16 March of 1986; in June of 1991 he was promoted to Assistant
17 Fire Chief and remained as head of Fire Prevention; and
 
18     WHEREAS, He hold State Fire Marshall Certification in Fire
19 Fighter II, Fire Prevention Officer I, Instructor I, Haz Mat
20 Operations, Instructor II, Fire Apparatus Engineer, Fire
21 Prevention Officer II, and Fire Officer II; and

1     WHEREAS, In addition to his many State Certifications,
2 Assistant Fire Chief McDonald earned an Associates Degree in
3 Applied Science from the College of DuPage in 1987; therefore,
4 be it
 
5     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
7 congratulate Assistant Fire Chief Gregory McDonald on his
8 retirement and wish him the best in all his future endeavors;
9 and be it further
 
10     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to Assistant Fire Chief Gregory McDonald as a symbol
12 of our respect and esteem.
