HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dr. Matthew F. Bonnan, Associate Professor of Biological Sciences at Western Illinois University, on being a part of the team of scientists that discovered a new species of dinosaur, Aardonyx; and

WHEREAS, The discovery was made in South Africa; Dr. Bonnan's contribution to the discovery was his identification of the bone structure that made the dinosaur unique; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Bonnan was co-author of the peer-reviewed paper that was published in the Royal Proceeds of Science B on November 11, 2009; and

WHEREAS, He is a graduate of Westfield Junior High in Bloomingdale, a 1991 graduate of Lake Park High School in Roselle, a 1995 graduate of the University of Illinois in Chicago with a Bachelor of Sciences degree, and a 2001 Ph.D. graduate from Northern Illinois University; and

WHEREAS, The discovery of Aardonyx was funded by the National Geographic Society and Western Illinois University; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Dr. Matthew Bonnan on his part in this incredible discovery of Aardonyx and wish him continued success for years to come; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Matthew Bonnan as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
