HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate George "Georgie Porgie" Andros on the occasion of being named one of Billboard Magazine's Top 10 Dance Artists of the Decade; and

WHEREAS, In March of 1993, Georgie Porgie created the Music Plant Group, a management company with its own label, production, and distribution arms; after 16 years of hard work, the Chicago-based company has become the longest standing dance label in the United States; and

WHEREAS, Georgie Porgie's company has released countless worldwide hits and has written and produced works for major artists such as Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Crystal Waters, the Spice Girls, Mary J. Blige, Jody Watley, Zhane, Tag Team, R. Kelly, and Ivy Queen, among many others; his own records have reached #1 on the International Dance Club Charts and Dance/Pop Radio Charts and have enjoyed great success in over 14 countries; and

WHEREAS, Georgie Porgie is one of only 2 males to be picked as a Top Dance Artist of the Decade; unlike the other musicians on the list, he has reached this distinguished position without the benefit of a major music label; and

WHEREAS, Georgie Porgie's intense commitment to his craft and his immense talent have earned him the title of "The Ambassador of Dance Music"; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate George "Georgie Porgie" Andros on the occasion of being named one of Billboard Magazine's Top 10 Dance Artists of the Decade and wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to George "Georgie Porgie" Andros as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
