HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Ernestine Evon Howard Rives of East St. Louis on her 80th birthday; and

WHEREAS, She was born and raised in East St. Louis; and

WHEREAS, Her family has made contributions to the East St. Louis community dating back to the riots for civil rights; and

WHEREAS, She has created a new paradigm for care giving, meals on wheels, all brand greeting cards and jeweled gifts for those in need of comfort during illness, mourning, or celebration; and

WHEREAS, Ernestine has two children, Denis AM Davis McFarlin and Reginald Davis; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Her encouraging remark, "Do the best you can", and a thundering laugh and sense of humor will always be her mantra; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we wish Ernestine Evon Howard Rives a happy birthday and many more for years to come; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Ernestine Evon Howard Rives as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
