HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of United States Army Sergeant Kenneth Nichols Jr., of Georgetown, who was killed on December 1, 2009, while serving in Afghanistan; and

WHEREAS, He was born on July 21, 1981 in Boca Rotan, Florida, the son of Kenneth Nichols Sr. and Sandra Nutter Nichols; and

WHEREAS, He graduated from Georgetown-Ridge Farm High School, where he was active on the football team and participated in FFA; he enlisted in the United States Army after high school; he was currently serving in Company D 2nd Battalion 12 Infantry 4 BCT out of Fort Carson, Colorado; and

WHEREAS, He enjoyed riding his Harley, woodworking, camping, and hiking; he was a member of the Chrisman American Legion Post #477; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his mother and grandparents; and

WHEREAS, Sergeant Nichols is survived by his wife, Alaxandrea "Lexi"; his children, Brhyleigh, Kenneth III, Branden, and Pailynn; his sisters, Lisa (Larry) Henson and Cindy (George) Guthrie; other family members; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family, friends, and a grateful nation, the passing of Sergeant Kenneth Nichols; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Sergeant Kenneth Nichols and his willingness to serve his country, which led to him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Sergeant Kenneth Nichols as a symbol of our sincere respect and sympathy.
