HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of United
4 States Army Sergeant Kenneth Nichols Jr., of Georgetown, who
5 was killed on December 1, 2009, while serving in Afghanistan;
6 and
 
7     WHEREAS, He was born on July 21, 1981 in Boca Rotan,
8 Florida, the son of Kenneth Nichols Sr. and Sandra Nutter
9 Nichols; and
 
10     WHEREAS, He graduated from Georgetown-Ridge Farm High
11 School, where he was active on the football team and
12 participated in FFA; he enlisted in the United States Army
13 after high school; he was currently serving in Company D 2nd
14 Battalion 12 Infantry 4 BCT out of Fort Carson, Colorado; and
 
15     WHEREAS, He enjoyed riding his Harley, woodworking,
16 camping, and hiking; he was a member of the Chrisman American
17 Legion Post #477; and
 
18     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his mother and
19 grandparents; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Sergeant Nichols is survived by his wife,

1 Alaxandrea "Lexi"; his children, Brhyleigh, Kenneth III,
2 Branden, and Pailynn; his sisters, Lisa (Larry) Henson and
3 Cindy (George) Guthrie; other family members; and many nieces
4 and nephews; therefore, be it
 
5     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
7 mourn, along with his family, friends, and a grateful nation,
8 the passing of Sergeant Kenneth Nichols; and be it further
 
9     RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Sergeant Kenneth
10 Nichols and his willingness to serve his country, which led to
11 him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further
 
12     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to the family of Sergeant Kenneth Nichols as a symbol
14 of our sincere respect and sympathy.
