HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Daniel Vanek of Boy Scout Troop 297 on the occasion of attaining the coveted rank of Eagle Scout; and

WHEREAS, To achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, Daniel Vanek created a bioswale at Vogelei Park with the help of the Hoffman Estates Park District; the bioswale was designed to clean runoff water from a nearby parking lot before entering a nearby pond; and

WHEREAS, The project was completed on July 27, 2008 with the help of over 50 volunteers in just four hours and was funded from donations from over 50 local businesses; the project reduced pollutants in the pond by 50%; as a result of his hard work, the Hoffman Estates Park District honored Daniel with a "Best of Hoffman" award for his efforts; and

WHEREAS, The rank of Eagle Scout was bestowed upon Daniel Vanek by the Boy Scouts of America at a Court of Honor ceremony on November 13, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Daniel Vanek serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Daniel Vanek of Boy Scout Troop 297 on the occasion of attaining the coveted rank of Eagle Scout and wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Daniel Vanek as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
