HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Mike Kanzia, Chief of the Carol Stream Fire Protection District, on his retirement; and

WHEREAS, He began his career with the Carol Stream Fire Protection District in October of 1976; he became Lieutenant in 1984, Captain/Battalion Chief in 1993, Deputy Chief in March of 2007, and was appointed to Chief in September of 2007 after serving as interim chief for 4 months; and

WHEREAS, He started development training programs for all officers, started the Chaplaincy program, hosted the first National Training Fire Program (Fire House Expo, Chicago 2008), brought the Chicago Fire Department to Carol Stream for the training of new recruits Help design, had put into service a brand new command vehicle with the cooperation of the Village of Carol Stream, and was instrumental in the purchasing of a new tower ladder and rescue squad; and

WHEREAS, He is married to Debbie and they have four children, Michael, Daniel, Jason, and Nikki; his hobbies include remote controlled airplanes and watching football; and

WHEREAS, His retirement is scheduled for September 30, 2009; he plans to retire to Phoenix, Arizona; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Mike Kanzia, Chief of the Carol Stream Fire Protection District, and wish him well in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mike Kanzia as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
