HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Joyce Brooks of Williamsville, who passed away on September 12, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Joyce Brooks was born on October 24, 1941 in Waverly; she was the daughter of Woodrow Brian and Clara Evans Scurlock; she married Ray Brooks on June 7, 1959 at the Williamsville Christian Church in Williamsville; and

WHEREAS, Joyce Brooks retired from St. John's Hospital after 24 years of dedicated service; and

WHEREAS, Joyce Brooks enjoyed camping, fishing, attending her grandson's basketball games, and spending time with her family; she also loved video games and even had her own controller, which she hid so others could not use it; and

WHEREAS, Joyce Brooks had a remarkable attitude and was a joy to be around; she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who will be remembered for the wonderful impact she had on the lives of everyone she met; and

WHEREAS, Joyce Brooks was preceded in death by her son, David Brooks; her brothers, Johnny Orlove and Bobbie Scurlock; and her parents; and

WHEREAS, Joyce Brooks is survived by her husband of 50 years, Ray Brooks; her daughter, Diane (Kent) Thompson; her sisters, Helen Brian, Debra (Bob) Rath, and Rebecca (Tracy) Warden; her grandchildren, Katrina and Trevor Thompson and Sophie and Matt Brooks; her several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her lifelong treasured friend, Linda Bileck; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Joyce Brooks; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Joyce Brooks as an expression of our sympathy.
