HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of U.S. Army
4 Reserves Corporal Casey Hills of Salem, who was killed in the
5 line of duty while serving in Iraq on June 24, 2009; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Corporal Casey Hills served in the United States
7 Individual Ready Reserves and was assigned to the 100th
8 Battalion of the 442nd Infantry Regiment; his unit was sent to
9 Kuwait in November of 2008 to provide security for U.S.
10 installations in the area and has served in Iraq in order to
11 protect convoys; he was also a former Illinois National
12 Guardsman; and
 
13     WHEREAS, Corporal Casey Hills was the recipient of numerous
14 awards and medals for his service, including the Army
15 Commendation Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National
16 Defense Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War
17 on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism
18 Service Medal, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with "M" Device,
19 the Army Service Ribbon, and the Overseas Service Ribbon; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Corporal Casey Hills is survived by his parents,
21 Mark and Tammy Hills; his grandparents, Billy and Violet Hills;
22 his brother, Blake Hills; his sister, Danielle Hills; his

1 niece, Lorelei Hills; and his nephew, Briar Hills; and
 
2     WHEREAS, Corporal Casey Hills' patriotism and courage will
3 be remembered fondly by his loving family, his fellow soldiers,
4 and the citizens of our grateful nation; therefore, be it
 
5     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
7 mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of
8 Corporal Casey Hills; and be it further
 
9     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10 presented to the family of Corporal Casey Hills as a symbol of
11 our sympathy.
