HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Ben Bruce, who passed away on July 14, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Ben Bruce and his wife, Lois Jane, successfully owned and operated Bruce Electric, TVW Men's Wear, Shermand's Department Store, and Bruce's Ladies Apparel; he was elected to the Bank of Marion's Board of Directors in 1972; he retired as chairman of the board in 2004; and

WHEREAS, Ben Bruce was the loving father of his son, B.W. Bruce, and his daughters, Laura Ann and Elizabeth Jane; and the beloved grandfather of several grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Ben Bruce will be remembered by all who knew and loved him as a wonderful husband, father, and friend, whose dedication to his community and his family endeared him to everyone he met; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Ben Bruce; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ben Bruce as an expression of our sympathy.
