HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the Hillcrest Hawks boys track and field team on the occasion of their first place victory at the IHSA Class 2A Boys Track and Field State Meet; and

WHEREAS, The Hillcrest Hawks boys track and field team scored 93 points during the tournament, rolling up 46 more points than the meet's runner-up, Cahokia; ably led by Jamison Wilson, Sam Russell, Maurice Lyke, and Ryan Keen, the team dominated all 10 events, with victories in the 300-meter hurdles, the 1,600-meter relay, the 400-meter relay, and the 110-meter hurdles; the team's victory gave Hillcrest its first IHSA title in the school's 42-year history; and

WHEREAS, The Hillcrest Hawks boys track and field team's head coach is Ron Towner; the team's athletic director is Lisa Wunar; the assistant athletic director is Donald Houston; the school's principal is Mrs. Renee Simms; and the District 228 Superintendent is Mr. Bill Kendall; and

WHEREAS, The Hillcrest Hawks boys track and field team serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the members of the Hillcrest Hawks boys track and field team on the occasion of their victory and wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Ron Towner, head coach of the Hillcrest Hawks boys track and field team, as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
