HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Tonya Long on her retirement from the Chicago Police Department; and

WHEREAS, She began her career with the City of Chicago in 1976 as a Library Page in a part-time position; in 1979 she became a full-time employee, holding titles such as Junior Clerk, Senior Clerk, Principal Clerk, Head Clerk, and Library Guard; and

WHEREAS, In 1997 she transferred to the Chicago Police Department as a Clerk IV, working in the Identification section, fingerprinting clients and disseminating criminal history records; and

WHEREAS, In May of 2007 she transferred to the Research and Development Division, assisting in the daily operations of the Administrative Section of the unit; and

WHEREAS, On June 30, 2009 she will retire after serving with the City of Chicago for 33 1/2 years; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Tonya Long on her years of service to the City of Chicago and wish her the best in all her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Tonya Long as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
