HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of Boy Scout Troop 66 in River Forest on the occasion of the Troop's 75th anniversary on August 1, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Boy Scout Troop 66 is a vibrant Troop of over 50 scouts and a dozen leaders; the Troop regularly honors and carries the American flag in numerous parades and civic ceremonies; and

WHEREAS, Boy Scout Troop 66 has served its community, its nation, and the world through various service projects, including the establishment of the Oak Park Humane Society, the collection and shipping of needed bicycles to developing counties, and the construction of a sandbag levee to stop the flooding of the Des Plaines River; and

WHEREAS, Over the past 75 years, Boy Scout Troop 66 has helped 80 young men become Eagle Scouts, the highest rank in Scouting; and

WHEREAS, Boy Scout Troop 66 has served as a model of civic awareness and charity for Boy Scout Troops around the world and the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the members of Boy Scout Troop 66 on the occasion of the Troop's 75th anniversary and wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Boy Scout Troop 66 as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
