HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the administration and staff of Memorial Hospital in Hancock County on the grand opening of the new hospital facility on July 12, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Memorial Hospital broke ground on Saturday, May 31, 2008, the first major step in the construction process; the new hospital will have a total cost of approximately $25 million; and

WHEREAS, Memorial Hospital is the second largest employer in Hancock County with 250 employees and an annual payroll of $7,000,000; and

WHEREAS, The first Memorial Hospital was built in 1949 in honor of returning World War II veterans; and

WHEREAS, Memorial Hospital is the primary source of health care in Hancock County, offering 24/7 emergency room care, cardiopulmonary and surgical services, diagnostic imaging, physical therapy, and obstetrics services; and

WHEREAS, The theme of the grand opening is "Honoring the Past, Ensuring the Future"; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the administration and staff of Memorial Hospital and wish them the best as the opening of the new facility; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to a representative of Memorial Hospital as a symbol of our respect.
