HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to thank Bill Mitze for his years of service to the City of Monticello; and

WHEREAS, Bill Mitze first joined the City of Monticello City Council in 1978 as an alderman; after serving for 8-years, he took an 8-year vacation from the Council, but later rejoined as an alderman, serving from 1994 to 2003; and

WHEREAS, In 2003, he was appointed as Mayor of Monticello, and in 2005, Mr. Mitze won his first election as Mayor, a position which he held until 2009 when he ran for and was elected as alderman; and

WHEREAS, Bill Mitze was a high school teacher and coach for 7 years, before stepping into the role of high school principal for 27 years; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Mitze has three grown children, Steve, Libby, and Jon and four grandchildren, Tara, Trent, Cooper, and Spencer; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Mitze and his wife, Pat, were charter members of the Christ Lutheran Church in Monticello; he is a member of the Rotary Club, an avid reader, and a golfer; and he and his wife are enjoying their retirement in Monticello; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we thank Bill Mitze for his years of service to the City of Monticello and wish him continued success in all his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Bill Mitze as a symbol of our respect.
