HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Judy Chapman as she retires from her position as a math teacher at Charleston High School; and

WHEREAS, She is originally from Columbus, Ohio, and came to Charleston after her former husband joined the faculty at Eastern Illinois University; and

WHEREAS, She taught home economics at Eastern Illinois University for thirteen years; deciding she wanted to be around her children and be a part of their school activities, she returned to college and added a degree in mathematics to her degree in home economics; and

WHEREAS, She began teaching at the high school in 1988; in addition to math, she also taught geometry and calculus; and

WHEREAS, She is known for her "witicisms", words she would use in her classroom that her students would pay close attention to, resulting in her being presented with a t-shirt filled with "witicisms" at the end of one school year; and

WHEREAS, She plans to visit with family, especially her grandchildren in Ohio, upon her retirement; she also will knit, sew, read, and walk, in addition to traveling; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Judy Chapman on her retirement and wish her well in her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Judy Chapman as a symbol of our respect.
