HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the congregation of the Progressive Life-Giving Word Cathedral (PLGWC) on the occasion of the dedication of the James Benjamin Alford Bible Institute; and

WHEREAS, The Rev. Dr. James Benjamin Alford, born on May 3, 1906, served as Pastor of the Progressive Life-Giving Word Cathedral (formerly known as the Progressive Church of God in Christ) from 1941 to 1983; he developed a sterling reputation within his community as a man of great wisdom and a remarkable husband, father, community leader, and proponent of education; he also dedicated many decades of service to the Village of Maywood; and

WHEREAS, The Progressive Life-Giving Word Cathedral will officially dedicate the James Benjamin Alford Bible Institute during a ceremony in the church's main sanctuary on May 26, 2009 at 7:30 P.M.; and

WHEREAS, The Rev. Dr. James Benjamin Alford's legacy of piety, charity, and dedication will be continued through the generation of students taught through the James Benjamin Alford Bible Institute; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the congregation of the Progressive Life-Giving Word Cathedral on the occasion of the dedication of the James Benjamin Alford Bible Institute and wish them continued success and happiness in their future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the congregation of the Progressive Life-Giving Word Cathedral as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
