HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Barbara
4 Wynn Bansley, who passed away on March 20, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Barbara Wynn Bansley received her degree in
6 education from Chicago State University in 1954; she graduated
7 from Daley College in 1975 with a degree in painting and
8 drawing; she later received her master's degree in
9 interdisciplinary art from Columbia College in Chicago; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Barbara Wynn Bansley had a long and distinguished
11 career in art education; she began teaching in the Chicago
12 Public School system before moving on to teach art classes at
13 the Beverly Art Center and the St. Cajetan School; she also
14 taught quilting and knitting classes to seniors at various
15 parks throughout the South Side of Chicago; and
 
16     WHEREAS, Barbara Wynn Bansley was widely known for her
17 performance works, "The Perfect Shade of Blue" and "The Wit of
18 America's First Ladies"; her live performances were done at the
19 Ridge Historical Society on the far South Side of Chicago, the
20 Hartmann Center Gallery in Peoria, Columbia College, and other
21 venues across the City of Chicago; and

1     WHEREAS, Barbara Wynn Bansley enjoyed sketching pictures
2 of her children and family and spending time with her two dogs,
3 Rover and Brady; and
 
4     WHEREAS, Barbara Wynn Bansley is survived by her husband of
5 55 years, James; her daughters, Helen Schiller, Jean Maroney,
6 Anne Bansley, Mary Maroney, Geri Doherty, Barbara Cronin, and
7 Lucy Riles; her sons, James, Andrew, John, Bob, and Tony; her
8 sister, Mary Sullivan; her brother, Andrew McCann; and her 45
9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
10     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
11 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
12 mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of
13 Barbara Wynn Bansley; and be it further
 
14     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15 presented to the family of Barbara Wynn Bansley as an
16 expression of our sympathy.
