HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Jerald Bartell on his retirement as president and CEO of Marine Bank & Trust, located in Carthage, Hamilton and Augusta; and

WHEREAS, He has been in banking for 42 years, serving 18 years at Marine Bank; he is a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking in Madison, Wisconsin; and he was a founding member of the Independent Community Banks of Illinois (now, Community Banking Association of Illinois) and has served as chairman; and

WHEREAS, He served in the United States Army, Counter Intelligence Corps, and achieved the rank of E6; he was stationed in Bangkok, Thailand for most of that service; and

WHEREAS, He has served in many volunteer leadership capacities, including serving as president of the Carthage Kiwanis Club, president of the Carthage Lions Club, president of the Carthage Chamber of Commerce, and co-chair of the Adams County United Way committee; and

WHEREAS, He was named an Outstanding Young Man of America in 1980; and

WHEREAS, Jerald and his wife, Linley, plan to continue to reside in Carthage, volunteering and working in the community, in addition to visiting with their new grandson in Palatine; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Jerald Bartell on his retirement and wish him the best in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Jerald Bartell as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
