HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor the Klein family of Orangeville, who through their quick thinking and action saved the lives of their neighbors, the Dietmeiers; and

WHEREAS, On May 4, 2009, Courtney Klein, the daughter of Charles "Chuck" and Nita Klein, noticed a fire developing in the garage of her neighbors, Melvin and Roselyn Dietmeier; and

WHEREAS, The Dietmeiers, Melvin and Roselyn, are an elderly couple who reside across the road from the Kleins; and

WHEREAS, Courtney Klein notified the rest of her family of the emergency; her mother called 9-1-1 and the entire family drove to the Dietmeier home, where they began knocking on windows and doors to awaken the couple; and

WHEREAS, The Dietmeiers were awakened as their home began to fill with smoke; the garage was overtaken by the fire but the lives of Melvin and Roselyn Dietmeier were spared; and

WHEREAS, Because of their unselfishness and willingness to serve others, the Klein family truly deserve to be called heroes; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Klein family, Charles, Nita, Courtney, and Carly, on their willingness to help in the time of need, putting others ahead of themselves, and seeing a great outcome to what may been a tragedy; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Klein family as a symbol of our respect.
