| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, On Saturday, March 7, 2009 the Springfield High | | 3 |
| Girls Basketball Team celebrated its 4th place finish in the | | 4 |
| ISHA Class 3A Girls Basketball State Tournament; and
| | 5 |
| WHEREAS, The Team's debut at the State Tournament marked | | 6 |
| the first time a girls basketball team from Springfield High | | 7 |
| School has qualified for the State Tournament; and
| | 8 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Springfield High Girls | | 9 |
| Basketball Team are: Allison Anderson, Emma Anderson, Jillian | | 10 |
| Burgett, Amber Cason, Maddie Fetter, Kelly Korza, Kasi Korza, | | 11 |
| Zehna Medley, Caitlin Miller, Megan Pence, Jalesia Riggins, | | 12 |
| Julie Schulenburg, and Demi Van Der Wal; and
| | 13 |
| WHEREAS, The coaches for the Springfield High School Girls | | 14 |
| Basketball Team are: Head Coach
Brad Scheffler and Assistant | | 15 |
| Coaches Ken Dobucki,
Craig Jeffers, and Lenzy Weder; and
| | 16 |
| WHEREAS, Before entering the State Tournament, the girls | | 17 |
| basketball team had accumulated 26 wins on the season, a school | | 18 |
| record, to go along with just 3 losses and, as a result, the | | 19 |
| team was ranked fifth by The Associated Press in the Class 3A | | 20 |
| State Poll; and

| WHEREAS, On their way to the State Tournament, the | | 2 |
| Springfield High Girls beat Lanphier in a regional semifinal | | 3 |
| game by a score of 69-51; beat Southeast High School in a | | 4 |
| regional title game, 61-48; defeated Bloomington High School by | | 5 |
| a final score of 61-42; crushed Decatur MacArthur in the | | 6 |
| sectional title game, 79-54; and defeated Breese Mater Dei, | | 7 |
| 66-62, in a supersectional title game; and
| | 8 |
| WHEREAS, Springfield High was able to set more school | | 9 |
| records by winning a regional title for the first time since | | 10 |
| 2006, and a sectional title for the first time since 1997; | | 11 |
| therefore, be it
| | 12 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | | 13 |
| NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | | 14 |
| congratulate the Springfield High School Girls Basketball Team | | 15 |
| on a great season; and be it further
| | 16 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | | 17 |
| presented to the Springfield High School Girls Basketball Team | | 18 |
| as a symbol of our respect.
