HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Keith A. Ranney on
4 the occasion of his retirement as Chief of the Bloomington Fire
5 Department on May 1, 2009 after 30 years of dedicated service;
6 and
 
7     WHEREAS, Keith Ranney began his service with the
8 Bloomington Fire Department on April 16, 1979; he was appointed
9 to the rank of Lieutenant on July 14, 1986, followed by a
10 promotion to Captain on November 4, 1989; he then continued his
11 steady ascent through the department's ranks, becoming
12 Training Officer on August 12, 1992 and Assistant Chief on May
13 3, 1995; on April 4, 1998, he was appointed to serve as the
14 department's Chief, where he remained until his retirement; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Keith Ranney also served as a Firefighter/EMT, a
16 Fire Inspector, an Arson Investigator, and an Aircraft
17 Firefighter Rescue Man during his tenure; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Keith Ranney earned his associate's degree in Fire
19 Sciences from Illinois Central College, his bachelor's degree
20 in Fire Service Administration from Western Illinois
21 University, and his master's degree in Management &
22 Organizational Behavior from Benedictine University; he is

1 also a graduate of Leadership McLean County; and
 
2     WHEREAS, Keith Ranney is a member of the McLean County
3 Disaster Council, having served as the council's exercise chair
4 and president, among other positions; he is a Homeland Security
5 Region 11 Co-Chair; he is a member of the Illinois Terrorism
6 Task Force, the McLean County EMS Task Force, and the McLean
7 County Communications Committee; he is also a member of the
8 McLean County Fire Chiefs Association, the Central Illinois
9 Fire Chiefs Association, the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association,
10 the International Fire Chiefs Association, and the Illinois
11 Society of Fire Service Instructors; therefore, be it
 
12     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
13 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
14 congratulate Keith A. Ranney on the occasion of his retirement
15 and wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it
16 further
 
17     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18 presented to Keith Ranney as a symbol of our esteem and
19 respect.
