HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Linda McDermott, Clerk of the Village of Roselle, on her retirement; and

WHEREAS, She was appointed to the position by former Mayor Sandra Birdsall in 1987; and

WHEREAS, She is a 35-year resident of Roselle and the mother of three; and

WHEREAS, In 2002, she was honored by former Lieutenant Governor Corinne Wood as one of the Illinois Women of Achievement for her exemplary commitment to public service; and

WHEREAS, She loves her community and can always be seen at the Rose Festival, the July 4th Festivities, Concerts in the Park, the Main Street Market, and the Taste of Roselle; and

WHEREAS, She volunteers at the Roselle United Methodist Church, where she is involved in refugee resettlement and child advocacy; in addition, she volunteers at Friends of the Library and Public Action to Deliver Shelter (PADS); she has served on the Rose Queen Pageant Committee, the Fire Pension Board, the TIF Commission, the Character Counts Coalition, the Taste of Roselle Commission, the Sister Cities Commission, the Board of Directors of the American Cancer Society as the communications chairman, particularly Relay for Life, the Campanelli YMCA, where she served on the Executive Committee as Secretary, Member at Large, and is currently Treasurer; and she represented the Village of Roselle as part of a traveling delegation to Roselle's sister city, Bochnia, Poland; and

WHEREAS, She has been a member of the DuPage Municipal Clerks since 1988, serving as President from June of 2000 through June of 2001; and she has been a member of the North/Northwest Cook County Municipal Clerks since 1988; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Linda McDermott and wish her the best in her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Linda McDermott as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
