HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Donald G. Brown on his retirement from OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth; and

WHEREAS, He has served as Administrator of OSF Holy Family Medical Center from April of 2007 to the present; he was CEO of Community Medical Center (the previous name of OSF Holy Family Medical Center) from February of 1997 to April of 2007; he served as a hospital CEO/Administrator since 1962; and

WHEREAS, His professional memberships include serving on the Board of Directors of the Illinois Provider Trust from 1999 to 2006; serving as a member of the Illinois Hospital and Health Systems Association, serving on and chairing numerous committees, including acting as Region 5 President in 1994; serving on the National Board of Directors of the Federation of American Health Systems for 16 years, including serving as Regional Vice-President; serving as a member of the Small and Rural Steering Committee from 1990 to present; serving as a member and former Director of the Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network from 2003 to present; serving as a member of the OSF Healthcare System Ethics Committee; serving as a member of the OSF Healthcare System Specialty Alignment Initiative Committee; serving as a board member of the Wells Fargo Community Bank Board from 2003 to the present; and serving as a member of the OSF Healthcare System Executive Steering Committee; and

WHEREAS, His community memberships include: serving as a past board member of the Western Illinois Partnership for Economic Development from 1999 to 2006; serving as past Director of the Warren-Henderson County Economic Development Board from 1999 to 2003; serving as a past member of the Board of Directors of the Monmouth Chamber of Commerce from 1999 to 2003; and serving as a member of the First Christian Church in Monmouth; and

WHEREAS, His professional accomplishments include; completing a bond issue to remove Community Memorial Hospital from city ownership; establishing restructuring in profitable operations for Community Medical Center, allowing for over $4 million of renovations; recruiting fourteen physicians and six physician assistants in Monmouth; establishing a seven day, 24-hour medical clinic within the hospital; and establishing weekly specialty clinics; upgrading hospital-wide clinical technology and computer systems; and

WHEREAS, In 1997, OSF Holy Family Medical Center had 187 employees, and in 2009 it has 263 through Donald Brown's addition of services and the establishment of more jobs; he established competitive salary and wage programs for employees; he helped to establish a county health department; and he was instrumental in completing the sale of assets from Community Medical Center to OSF Healthcare, which ensured the residents of Monmouth and surrounding areas quality healthcare services for many years to come; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Donald Brown on his retirement and wish him all the best in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Donald G. Brown as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
